The Miss World runner-up will  be one of 24 aspiring models - mentored by fashion icon Naomi Campbell - taking part in an X Factor-style knockout contest starting on Sky Living on Monday, September 30.

She beat thousands of other hopefuls to make the final two dozen places.

The winner of the show, entitled The Face, will bag a lucrative contract with world-renowned makeup brand, Max Factor.

It has been a whirlwind 18 months for Ferndale beauty Sophie, who landed the Miss UK title and finished second in the 2012 Miss World contest in China.

She has established her credentials as one of Wales’ best  beauty exports after winning fans across the globe – including Mexico – where one  website labelled her “the perfect miss”.

Ex-Aberdare schoolgirl Sophie managed all this on top of  her duties as Miss Wales and  continuing her business management course at Cardiff University.

But now her focus has turned to modelling and her quest to learn from some of industry’s most iconic figures.

London catwalk queen Naomi Campbell will be joined by fellow models Erin O’Connor and Caroline Winberg as mentors on The Face, who will each choose four aspiring models over an eight-week period.

The three teams will then battle it out in a series of real-life fashion industry challenges, including photoshoots, catwalk shows and big-budget commercials for global  brands.

The eight-part series will follow the 24 girls as they compete to remain in the competition.

It has been hailed as the next  big modelling show, following  on from the success of Britain’s Next Top Model.
